Chronic Pain Management
Helping you reclaim your life with holistic, patient-centred care. If pain has been limiting your daily life, our GPs work with you to build a practical, chronic pain management plan that fits your needs.

Care For Pain That Doesn’t Just Go Away
Living with ongoing pain can affect every part of daily life, from work and sleep to mental wellbeing and relationships. When pain continues beyond normal healing time, it often needs a different approach.
Our multidisciplinary team of doctors, pain specialists, and allied health professionals work together to uncover the root causes of your pain and create a personalised plan to restore comfort, mobility, and confidence. Whether you’re dealing with back pain, arthritis, migraines, or long-term musculoskeletal issues, we’re here to help you move forward with holistic, patient-centred care.
Understanding Chronic Pain
Chronic pain is pain that persists beyond normal healing time, usually lasting longer than three months. It may be constant or intermittent and can range from mild to severe. Unlike acute pain, chronic pain often requires a long-term management approach rather than a single treatment.
Common causes of chronic pain include:
- Back and neck pain
- Arthritis and joint conditions
- Nerve pain (neuropathic pain)
- Musculoskeletal injuries
- Fibromyalgia
- Headaches and migraines
Our Perth doctors focus on understanding both the physical and psychological aspects of pain to deliver effective, sustainable care.
How We Provide Multidisciplinary Chronic Pain Care
There is no single treatment that works for everyone living with chronic pain. What helps one person may do very little for another. That is why our starting point is not a protocol, but a conversation.
At Medika Health, our doctors take time to understand when your pain began, how it behaves, what makes it worse, and how it fits into your daily life. From there, decisions are made step by step, adjusting as your situation changes.
Depending on your needs, this may involve:
- Reviewing what has already been tried and what has or has not helped
- Reassessing medications to make sure they are still appropriate
- Discussing movement and activity in a way that is realistic for you
- Involving other health professionals when extra support is needed
- Addressing sleep, stress, and mental load where these are influencing pain
The focus is not on chasing pain away at all costs, but on helping you function better and regain control over how pain fits into your life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is chronic pain management the same as pain medication?
No. Effective pain management usually involves a combination of treatments, not just medication.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required to see one of our GPs for chronic pain management. Unless, you are booking specifically for medicinal cannabis treatment. In that case, we do require a referral from your regular GP. Please call our clinic for further details.
What if I have tried many treatments already?
That is very common with chronic pain. Your GP will take the time to understand what has been tried before, what helped, and what did not, before discussing next steps.
Do I need scans or tests before my appointment?
Not always. If you already have imaging or test results, bring them with you. Your GP will decide if further tests are needed based on your symptoms and medical history.
